Jaine Mwai is the Chief Information Officer for Kenya and East Africa. She is a dedicated and committed professional with vast and notable experience working in Technology for the last 23yrs. She has worked in the sector in varied capacities across Africa acquiring and honing her skills in strategy development, team management, programme implementation and execution, project coordination as well as stakeholder relationship management.
She is responsible for driving the Bank’s current and future technology strategy across East Africa, responsible for change of the bank’s technology landscape across all business segments, accountable for Technology Services and Delivery across the Region, and driving the Technology and Innovation components into the regional Business Strategy.
Jaine joined the Bank in January 1998 as a Process Analyst where her role was to review and streamline bank processes, procedures and systems and actively make recommendations that resulted in solving system problems & addressing resourcing issues. In 2005 she left the Bank briefly to join WAMAD International, UAE as a Business Development Manager in charge of promoting and managing the organisation’s Technology Offerings in the Middle East, South Asia and Africa (MESA) region.
In January 2007, Jaine returned to Standard Chartered where her career evolved in multiple capacities over the next years. She held the roles of IT Business Relationship Manager for East & Southern Africa, Data Centre Manager and Head Country Technology Manager & East Africa Head of Program and Change Management. Currently she is Chief Information Officer, responsible for development of long-term strategy and direction in all aspects of IT Service Delivery. Jaine is the Winner of CIO of the Year Award 2020. She is also a Diversity & Inclusion Champion in Kenya and within Technology and Innovation global team.
Jaine has a bachelor’s degree in Management Economics from the University of Guelph, Ontario and a Graduate Diploma in Public Accounting from McGill University, Montreal Quebec. She is also a graduate of the Female Future Leadership Development Program by the Federation of Kenya Employers (FKE).
